The Unjust Treatment of healthcare workers In our society

In recent developments, the government has raised the minimum wage from $7 to $12 an hour in South Carolina. While this seems like a positive step, it has had devastating consequences, leading to the layoffs of 11,000 medical workers. This decision is especially troubling when companies like Prisma Health, which reported a $67.1 million gain from the previous year, chose to lay off 700 healthcare workers in South Carolina.

We must ask ourselves: Should we allow healthcare workers to be treated like this after all they do for us? Healthcare workers are indispensable, and at some point in our lives, we will all need their care. Yet, they are often the ones who suffer the most, despite their immense sacrifices and dedication to others.

Why is it that so many people in various industries amass wealth while those who dedicate their lives to caring for others are left to struggle? When was the last time a nurse received a company-supported 401(k)? Car manufacturers can offer these benefits to their employees, yet our healthcare workers are left without.

This is not to diminish the importance of vehicle manufacturers, but we must consider the long-term value of those who care for us when we cannot care for ourselves. Who should be taken care of for the rest of their lives: the person assembling cars, Companies releasing new models annually to increase profits, or the nurse who tends to us and our loved ones during our most vulnerable moments?

How about you coffee consumers? Do you feel that your barista deserves the 5% match on 401Ks that Starbucks gives their employees more benefits than the nurse gets that spends time with your Grandfather that served this country, yet has to worry about his caregiver making it to work every day. I'm this world how is it a thing that we have to worry about making money to live, but also the fact that when you make money you have to worry about making enough money to work after government takes benefits away.

It’s time we prioritize the well-being of our healthcare workers. They deserve better pay, benefits, and job security. We owe it to them, and to ourselves, to ensure that those who dedicate their lives to caring for others are not left to suffer in return. As a disabled veteran paralyzed the last 12 years I have had lots of healthcare workers help with my care honestly most of them being single mothers doing everything possible to care for their children while being amazing human beings caring for others over themselves lots of times. In the world we are living in who do you want the world to invest in? My money is the ones who put their lives on the line over and over again for us all.
